My '86 classic had a 4.6 fitted. The original EFI was incapable of fuelling a 4.6 so the engine had larger injectors and an aftermarket Haltech EFI ECU. The flapper system was removed and replaced with a simple MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. It wasn't an expensive MAF sensor like the P38A, it was a simple and cheap semiconductor.
