    6x6

I'm after a little info on the perenties, i may be getting hole of a drive setup to suit LT95, but was wondering the setup of the tailshafts etc that was used, what about rear suspension, all that kind of information would be greatly appreciated

Might have to extend my tray a little

    G'day rovercare

Havn't had a look at Perenties for years, but from memory they have an LT95A trans driving 2 seperate tailshafts one normal set-up and the other from the PTO, to a Beam-Rocker load sharing rear suspension, so 6WD is selectable, this setup differs slightly from the Civilian truck, which is leaf springs from memory, the "A" in 95a is larger/heavier bearings I think.

    cheers

Correct, except - Both the Civvie and Military 6x6 have leaf spring rear suspension - looks like 2 pairs of SIII HD rears.

Military is about 12" wider than a civvie version though.

Diff ratios are 4.7:1 - front diff is a specially make ring and pinion which only bolts to a coiller carrier, and is reverse cut to suit a front-only application. Ring and pinion cost $1700 from rover!!!

Since the drive to the rearmost axle doesn't go through the centre diff, it shouldn't be engaged on-road.

Just adding to Uncle Ho and Ben:-
Civilian and military 6x6s are identical as far as the drive and suspension goes except for the obvious difference in width and track.

The power takeoff has a gear to engage the intermediate gear rather than the mainshaft like the normal PTO, so that it changes speed with the change from high to low. The rear-rear axle has the diff on the left not the right, and the two piece prop shaft has a centre bearing on the forward-rear axle. The PTO is engaged by a vacuum actuator the same as the diff lock unless I am mistaken.

From memory the rear axles are Rover not Salisbury. The springs, which I agree with Ben look like Series ones are set with one axle on the wider spacing like the 109, the other on the narrower like the 88, so that the springs can overlap, with a Z shaped rocking beam connecting them. Can't remember which is inside, forward or rear.

I agree with Uncle Ho that the A in LT95A reflects heavier bearings, but I am not sure which ones or how much difference there is.

Both rear axles are most definitely salisbury (at least on the military versions).

This thread explains the differences in the LT95A:

I'm sure you are right - and also sure that the civil and military ones are the same - just my poor memory.
