My experience has been as Tombraider and Baz has said clean all the conections and change brake fluid every 40K. The more you go off road the more you should clean and maybe change brake fluid every 20K.

    OK People....

Hands up everyone who uses HDC on a regular basis?

    no-one?

    Any-one?

    Ahhhhhh.....

Like running your A/C to prevent the lines cracking etc...

Using the HDC once a month will keep your shuttle valves happy.....

If the HDC worked i would, but it still doesn't work, might have to see my local Landy mechanic i think.

I often don't lock the centre in to get the TC working, it's amazing how well the TC works.

    Cheers Baz.

    I've Had it .

My disco had squealing brakes. Even my service centre couldn't fix it, so I fixed it myself. I replaced the pads with ferodo pads an no more squeal.

    17+ weeks without my Td5 [2004]

I can understand your frustration but I have been without my manual Td5 [bought new 2004] for over 17 weeks in total - the latest for 8+ weeks at Solitaire.
It has broken down [no accelerator function despite the engine running] over 20 times since April 2006 several times in the middle of busy intersections - I have had it trucked to Prestige and now Solitaire several times - it has had two potentiometers replaced, a new CPU, and more recently two looms!!!!!!!!!!! How is it that the Land Rover Dealers can't fix things?
Land Rover U.K, the firm that built the machine, won't reply to my complaints and requests for them to help L.R. Australia. Consumer Affairs can't help because the car is not second hand - it is still under warranty from the last time Solitaire tried to fix it and I am out of pocket big time [no car]. What a situation! How would like it? 'A Current Affair' might like the story.
Even if [when] I get the car back how can I be sure that it won't fail again in the outback and who could I sell it to in all honesty? I have all but given up - a message I give to Land Rover Assistance each time they infrequently ring me about the lack of progress.

That's extremely poor service! The loom should have been replaced after the TPS was replaced the 1st time.

Did you drive on idle anyway? I did a test and it took a little down-hill slope to get up enough speed (35pkh) to use CC to accelerate, but got to 4th gear anyway.

Is your TD5 a goldie coloured disco? If so I saw it earlier this week with the whole wiring loom stripped out. Dash and all. What a huge job. They said they were sending it back to UK for analysis.
