    Center Diff Lock

Hi guys, I was talking to Scouse today and he mentioned that he thought that LRA might have made an electronic/electric centre diff lock actuator to suit rangie classic/disco 1's. Just wondering if any one has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about LRA, there are a few aftermarket units around... some manual some powered.

    I have one of these:

Been really happy with it. Not sure if you could modify it for your use....

Do a search on the site for CDL and you will find heaps of info.

    Cheers. Mark

I wouldnt bother with the AMV eletronic CDL setup, not very reliable especialy when you start getting in alot of mud and water, i had one, it failed, ended up with a manual locking mechanism out of later model disco II. I am not the only one who has had problems with there AMV setup either.

Why would you want an eletronic CDL for your rangie? just something else to fail.

It was the AMV set up I mentioned, not genuine LR .
I haven't any experience with the AMV unit but it sounds like it's not too reliable (so it might suit the Land Rover in that case !!).

I'm sure someone here was recently playing around with a home made change & found it required bu66er all pressure to operate the diff lock. I'll wander off for a search in a bit......

I spoke to AMV some weeks ago, according to the girl I spoke to - they are not making the electrical one any more and are now offering a mechanical option. .....at quite a high price tag.

I am tinkering around 'trying' to make my own ..........slow progress but getting there.

Thanks guys. Sorry Scouse i couldn't remember what you said. The reason I want to change it is I have a discovery shifter on the gearbox but a range rover shifter plate on the transfer and the travel of the two is different. I spent 3-4 hours working on it adjusting mounts and lengthening links before i put the gearbox/transfer in the car and I can get it to half engage each way and thats it. I have a spare auto shifter here that I'm thinking I might modify to use as that may be the cheapest option. Although it will be time consuming i think it should be pretty easy, I'll keep everyone posted. Gee so much to do now, got to do the flares and this and my onboard air and sliders and......... . Cheers for the replies everyone
