It may be stronger..... The Salisbury is built like a tank, but the axles are not and another achillies heal for that diff (apart from ground clearance). The Toy 8" runs bigger axles (1.31" and 31 spline or similar) and the axles used in the Toy conversion are bigger and stronger than those even made by Maxi-drive for the Rover and Salisbury axle.

There are very few people that shave diffs, but there are more that alter the centres for strength. To make the Salisbury stronger again I guess you could covert it to 1.5" and 35 spline axles, but what tyres and diff ratios do you need to gain the clearance of a Toy conversion. To me at least it just doesn't make sence. A rover with Toys on 35's is probably going to be a better bet than a Rover with Salisbury on 38's and still the Rover front diff.
    Cheers

and it's easy enough to do, just change the side gears and JacMac make the axles already and there are no shortage of lockers or ratios for a D60 (for that is what we have just created) either.....
A Toyised Rover diff will never approach the strength of that combination.

    Ok, ok, I'm a Dana/Sals fan

Here is my Series LandRover, and the Toyota Landcruiser front axle quite literally bolted straight in with no modifications. Pinions are the same length and tailshafts are just a different flange. The difference is that these tyres will eat Rover diffs, and the Toys will just laugh at them.

    looking good Slunnie.
Always been a CJ fan, (a CJ6 was my first car) but I could be tempted to build a Series after seeing this with the Tojo diffs.

    The CJ6's are cool.

Thanks for this. ITs running up to a LC60 steering box + intermediate shaft to a Defender steering column also. The Landy isn't up and running yet, so still needs to prove itself.
