    no cruise controll

G,day I have just noticed that my cruise controll doesn't work in my 99 disco2 worked last aprox 12 months ago, as not something you get to use in sydney much these days. I have checked the fuses and the diaphram seems to be ok. Any body had a similar problem? and how can I test to see what is wrong. thanks.

Check you haven't blown a brake light. Any fault in the brake circuit will disable cruise control.

Also check the rubber hoses from the vac pump, they can split causing loss of vacuum. Remove hose & snip off end.

I may also be the rotary coupler, between the steering wheel and the column.

If you have a break in the wire here, which I understand is quite common, then the buttons on your steering wheel will not work.

On my D1, I had the SRS airbag light come on, and this was the cause.

The rotary coupler is a spiral cassette, containing a flat ribbon cable, with all the wires that go to the controls on the wheel and the air bag.

New not cheap, ebay, when they come up quite reasonable, easy DIY fix.

Ladas....Is there a way of testing this? I have an intermitent cruise control problem (more not working than working) and the SRS light is permanently on on my D1.

Yes there is, but you really need to remove the rotary coupler to test it.

    It's easy enough to remove.

Then you just check the resistance through each termonal - whilst slightly rotating the coupler, you may need an extra pair of hands for this.

If the fault is there - they are just about impossible to home fix, so it's either a new one or take a chance with a 2nd hand one.

    Cruise control

    Same problem as i have
Traced it back to brake light switch. When you stop the car get out and check if lights are on mine does this from time to time,or youre driving hit a bumpand it turns off the cruise
Try holding brake peddle up with youre foot when driving,Ifind i can start my cruise this way
This problem has been to the stealer a few times I put it down to adjustment of the brake peddle

Mine does exactly the same thing. Has anyone any idea how to adjust the switch? Is the switch at the pedal or in the engine bay?
