There are quite a few on D2Au, the Yahoo group that have fitted 32x9.5 Simex and also 33x10.5 Simex to a D2 with a 2" lift. There will be some rubbing on the radius arms, and possibly a little behind the washer bottle.
Hey guys
Have spent a bit of time looking back through old posts and threads and can't seem to find too much on fitting 33's (or simex 32's as apparently they are bigger ?) to a D2 ?.
Just wanted to know if anyone has done it and what was involved ? I have a 2" suspension lift - no body lift. They will be a seperate set and only bolted on when going playing.
Any feedback would be good. thanks.

with 33 rubbing will occur on back 1/4 alot might need to chop out there ,,,,32 you should be able to get away with it,,,,,i am running 2'lift with 265/75/16 MTZ Mickey Thompsons and its fine![]()
I was running 33" JT2's (almost 34" actual size) with a 2" spring lift. No rubbing at the rear at all and just had to change the steering bump stops to stop rubbing at full lock at the front. It all fits very easily.
You might want to put spacers in your front x member though, otherwise the front prop shoft hits the crossmember
The spacers in the Xmember will be due to the suspension setup though, not the tyres.

LRV8,
You wont have a problem fitting 32's with a 2" lift as a number of us here & on D2au run this size tyre 265/75/16 MTR, This is also the size & type of tyre i run, i also used to run a 32x9.5R16 JT2 Which is closer to a 33.5 & a few of the guys run 33's which is closer to 34.3 so it will fit with a small amount of mods, steering stops & some do some dont rub on plastic flares, which is just a matter of a small trim.
Cheers
The big thing with a 2" lift is probably going to be the width. Eg, the Simex will fit, but a smaller 33" like the 285/75-16 wont as its too wide, but a 255/85-16 may fit with some minor rubbing on the inner guards, but not the panels.

Thanks guys thats been a huge help, I am more interested in the Simex's like the extreme trekker 2.
So if i do a 2" suspension lift i should also put some spacers under my front xmember ??
You shouldn't have to if you are only doing a 2" spring lift and are matching the shocks to the springs. If you are going for longer travel shocks then yes, you might need to look at spacers. Or I have seen some people cut and laminate the x member and another who heated it, then pressed a nice tail shaft sized dent into it.
I also have a 2" lift (40mm springs) on my 99' TD5 D2 and changed from 32" muds (265/75R16 BFG Muds) to 33" (285/75R16 Silverstone m117 Sports) and have a little rubbing on the plastic innner front guard at full compression and full lock. Other than that they are pretty good.....although a guard chop is inevitable soon.
Hope this helps and good luck.
Aye, Mick
