I removed the rear pillar and window linings when I put in a parcel shelf in the Defender. Then I ended up taking out the roof linings as well, so I could paint the whole lot with an insulating paint tinted landy grey.

I'm happy with the result; no noticeable difference in the temperature or noise levels.

The only problem now is I've got a perfectly good set of linings suspended from the shed roof!!!

Maybe I get him to do both and we get a discount?
    worth a try.
I will ring him and ask

That would be great Brad let me know what happens.

Yes that looks to be the case Defenderzook and i have not used anthing to stick it back up like drawing pins as i did not know if this would wreck the backing?

    Thanks Mark

I took my roof lining off completely as mentioned ,the old cloth came of quite easily and cleaned off the surface with a Girnie ( recycled water ofcourse ) to wash off all adhesive left over ,once dried of water and moisture , I then fibre glassed the Roof side of the Lining which is some sort of Foam Sandwich , chose a matching water proof carpt ( grey ) and with adhesive spray I put the new carpet back on the roof lining , and put it all back together again. as mentioned you have to be really carefull you don't crease the Lining when putting it all back together as it will show thru. problem fixed has not sagged since. cost me all up about $100 bucks for carpet /adhesive spray /fibre glass.

1-2 layers of fibre glass is enough to give it rigidity / durability.

cloth/hardner/ Poly-Resin are all purchased thru FGI - > fibre glass international. look for a local supliers in WA

    P.s

If you Just Put the carpet on your Roof lining it will sag again.

Mark your rangie and mine are similar But yours is silver mine is chocolate Brown I saw your pics in the gallery.
Also dont use pins or staples.
From memory it cost me 200ish for him to do that.
I take in and I collect and refit. he covers and supplies the new material.
the problem with it is the foam comes away from the material and u cant just glue it back.
the new material comes with the foam preglued on on side and he glues the other.
I have not heard of anyone trying to reglue thiers that has lasted.
    I will be in touch.
What colour is your roof lining?
Mine is cream white, yours would be the fawny light brown?

the best fix is a new roof lining.......

to reglue the cloth back on......you need to remove the lining from the vehicle.......
the rear speakers and grab handles etc all need to come out......then you will just manage to get the lining out.......
be carefule not to bend/crease it too much....as the creases may not come out.......

now....with the lining out of the vehicle......and on the ground......you can lift up the loose cloth.......
and spray some good quality high strength contact adhesive on both the fibreglass backing and the cloth trim......

now the tricky bit.......gotta be patient....allow the glue to dry properly before pushing the two surfaces together.......
thats the only trick with contact cement........

allow the glue to dry completely according to the instructions on the pack.......
then refit the trim and all the bitses you had to remove to get it out......

should last for another 5 or more years..........
