    Hi Craig
The flanges are a common size,I enquired at several shops in Perth to do mine, all had the bits in stock.
Most said around $100,but all had book in times of over a week so it never happened.

Keep the flanges if you can , cause in the future if your g/box ever needs to come out it makes life a little easier

Chris, Shouldn't that read 'when' not 'if' your gearbox needs to come out???

    (Just a little humor there.....)

My main concern was that the exhaust shops would stock the flanges. Will have to go down and have a chat.
    Hi Craig,

Front flange - Holden commodore, $10. Bolt's holes smaller and closer to each other, so had to drill a little bit. Rear flange I made myself (10mm still, form and 3 holes for bolts), big hole -- oxi in the exhaust workshop + pipe + welding and fitting.

    In total $50

eewwww, Whats THAT rear diff still doing in there???

And yes, why has the anti corrosion layer been scraped gently off the chasis rails, is this a weight saving anti fouling measure??

( Like the pipe job though)

Just to help out those that might be interested in doing this little Mod, and might be a little hesitant.

I printed out Ruslan's picture(thx Ruslan) and drove down to Midas today, the manager scratched his head and said that he and the boys never worked on a Defender before, they ummmed and scratched their heads and finaly came up with $165.00+, the plus was having to match Flanges as they were not sure what would fit, even mentioned laser cutting some one off pieces but that would require leaving the car there for two days to measure up and requote.............So that basically finished that exercise.......

Went up the road to Mr Muffler(in Frankston), beaten up old joint it was, but a cluey young bloke came out, looked at the printed out picture, slung himself under a wet car, and as he emerged out, he said......" I'll keep the existing flanges by cutting them off the Muffler segment and splice/weld them onto the new pipe ".....I looked at him, he looked at me....as easy as that........"How much I says' ???".........$65.00.........But it might be LOUD, the young bloke says......never done this on a Defender before!!!!!!!

Bugger I says, for $65.00, give it a go mate.......40min later I turn the ignition, young bloke has his eyes shut with anticipation.....sounds..... NORMAL............a little more deeper in the Low noise but otherwise sweet...........
I get in the car and take it for a run, ....noise level barely more noticable, but very pleasant note, not at all intrusive nor irritable, feels more stronger on Torque through 1st 2nd and 3rd. Turbo has a sweet new whistle, not agressive, it's just a little more pronounced......

I get home and put the car in for the final test, get the missus to go down to the shops...........
She comes back with, "I know you have done something to that monstrosity, but I'm not sure what, it feels stronger but I can't put my finger on it......"what did you do and how much did you blow on it this time".....

And that test sums it up, it's not too loud at all...............
