    300TDI Discovery Engine Vibration

    Hi,
My disco has developed an engine vibration under 3000 rpm. Could this be caused by the engine mounts harding over time or something else. I have checked if the engine and gearbox are touching the chassis anywhere and found nothing. This has become very annoying. Any ideas anyone.

Does it do it when you are stationary

when you say vibration do you mean one that travels thru the cab or more like a harmonic vibration ?

many tdi's will do it at about 1800-2200 rpm, hauling a very heavy load for an hour or so can cure it..... dont laugh, see it fix it on a few trucks...

also cracked body mounts, thinning exhaust tubing, the exhaust antivibration thingo just down from the manifold splitting, a crack in the chassis .... also cause vibrations i have seen, felt or been told about.

I was more thinking (if it does it only when moving ) it can be the front prop UJ as they vibrate (when starting to go) when under load I.e under 3000 rpm

Mines got it, started about 2 weeks after putting in the lift and so I checked everything I could think of and it checked out ok so I just ignor it, I think mine is actually in the trans as it is a little intermittant or else I just dont notice it all the time but it is at around the 1800 to 2200ish revs.

Could be a cracked drive plate as well but they normally get noisey at the same time.

    Hi All,
The engine vibrates the body when stationary as well. It is a manual gearbox. I have checked all the uj's and donut and all is fine. The exhaust is well clear of the chassis. It does produce a harmonic vibration through the body when moving. Is this narrowing it down for anyone? I do a lot of towing with the caravan on behind.

Sorry to bring up and old thread, but did anyone ever fix their vibration, did it just go away?

Mine has a similar vibration between 2000-2100rpm. I was hoping someone has fixed it.
