Hi all,
Just wondering what people have as a second spare tyre/rim. I've got a 2001 defender with the alloy rims. Except for simply getting another one of these and coping the $$$, what do people use?? Maybe on old steal rim or something?? but I have no idea which, what or how??
any tips or ideas are welcome.

just remember, you need to obtain & carry steel wheel wheelnuts to use with your odd spare as they require different ones from the alloys

the alloy nuts on the early rangies are tapered too but I thought that was just to make it easier to push them through the wheel?
The shaft on the early alloy nuts that threads around the hub bolt is only a couple of mm thick and I've snapped a couple. I don't know if I'd be happy with them holding on steelies.
If the nuts were interchangable why would they make two different types?
If you get a matching alloy that gives 2 identical spares so tyre rotation is a breeze.
