    Is anyone running 265/75/16's on a D1

HI all, as the topic says is anyone running them. I am looking at options to change the ratio, i understand these are close to 32's or there abouts, this is the highest i want to go, i dont want 35's or anything that big. Just wondering who is running 265/75/16's on their D1 and if so how well do the fit, what did you have to do to make them fit. I run 31's when i go off road and had to trim the rear gaurds to make them fit, and i trimmed more than i needed to just in case so the rear is covered. They would be fitted to 16in ROH alloys for the time being, will look at getting some better wheels later. This seems to be the best size for me to fit to the car, other sizes are either to wide or to tall and i dont want to lift the body or anything like that. Matt

Hey Ace long time no see.
Yes I run BF Goodrich AT's 265/75/16. Mine is a change over 93/94 model so I have the real small wheel arches. Yes they do hit you probably dont want to trim them the way I did - over a jump about three feet in the air and let gravity fix it.

Not the prettiest job I have ever done but it was quick and it worked. Much gooda to trim the guards properly. Which I will do once I get together the money for flares and a body lift.

Go for it they make a hell of a difference

    Hi Ace.

I looked into it for my 94 Disco and decided I would have to chop too much which would make the standard tyres look silly (the 265/75s were only going to be for offroad).

I forget what I discovered that was required but it was at least a chop and flares. Bodylift too maybe?

I tried them on mine 97 2" susp lift and I found:

    1. they hit guards, on the tops of the guards as they are too wide to fit in on steel rims, alloys would be worse id imagine so you would need flares.

    2. they hit the back of the rear guards and you have to cut about 25 to 30mm out but same with 235 85s that I have now.

    3. they hit the front control arms on full lock and when you adjust the stoppers you lose a lot of lock.

You could quite comfortably fit them with reversed steelies or alloys as long as you flared it, no need for body lift but you realy have to cut the crap out of the guards.

235 85's are the same hight there abouts and you only need to trim the rear guards a little and makes a huge difference off road but they are quite narrow but this is good on bush tracks until you hit sand.

    hope that helps

The reason I tried them was as they are the most popular tyre on the market these days as they are standard fittment on the poo's and LC's but went for the 235 85's as they are standard on the Defa's.

This is because we like to do trips in out of the way places and if I need to replace one I didnt want to have to wait for a week or so to be able to get one.

If you have trimmed for the 31's (which is real close to 265/75/16's) and have a 2" lift you should be ok, i have a set on D1 steel rims ready to fit but not sure i want to cut the guards unless i can make it look factory.

No worries guys, that sounds about what i thought LR, just wasnt sure. My 31's touch the front on full lock but i can live with that, doesnt bother me, they dont really rub under full articulation. I am prepared to make some more chops to make them fit after i buy them if needed. I just wanted to make sure that i didnt need a huge amount of chopping.

Let me know how you go with yours when you fit them, some photos would be good i possible. Matt
