Mcrover got the right idea, give them something to help them search.
Talk about wasting our time, reading uninformative post who likes that. Enough said lets move on
jesus mate i think you need to lighten up a little newbie or not!!!

i can appreicate you being frustrated but like ladas suggested if you word a question a little differently then maybe you may get some more imformative answers........

i have many posts where people have replied with totally irelavant answers and then hijacked the post.....thats just the way it seems to go on here but in amongst those posts is usually good info.....

Well, this is the result of the labours. Can't help you with searching for shocks, but tyres ...

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...3&d=1183433371

It's an old index, that now works again.

No it's ok, you don't have to thank me

Seriously, some questions get asked every couple of months. Making reference to the search function/archive just shows you've tried to see what answers might already be out there.

Posting rants in the rants section as also a good idea

And contrary to what you might think, I for one take your point on board - which is why I've worked on the archive to get at least part back online.

I hope you do get your questions answered in the end.

I think part of the problem is that newcomers need a chance to discuss each common issue. Having a perpetually open thread would allow the oldtimers (anyone here since 1970 ) to have their say once, while every newcomer can also say whether they prefer buckshots to mudders.
who had a computer and internet in 1970?????

    Or better still

Hmmm. Sorry, yet another hijack of this thread. But the history of the forum is useful to newbies.

And the fact that I could get this out of the search engine (and my memory) in under a minute

    Did you do a search.....???

If you did you would of found that back then all AULRO members were also pidgeon breeders....we would then pin messages on the birds back, set them of in Incs' direction. (He owned a blacksmiths shop at the time) and waited for the answer to return. Sometimes it was quicker to drive to Qld in the series1 than risk a breeder......

loosen up old fellas, you were a newbie once too!

you dont have to reply in detail, just point them to a search thats relevant.. surely you could do that without busting a grumpy old boiler

and if you have a load of time on your hands, i have plenty i can occupy you with sorting out and cleaning up old threads...
I think that should read,' intolerant grumpy old men and woman!!!( but you posted it early.)

    Oh great one, Mr Inc
how quickly everyone forgets their first foray into the world of aulro,
how quickly they forget, they had no idea how to troll through the pages, how quickly they forget, they may have worded there first question in a similar fashion,
how quickly they forget that some repliers too are relatively new and talk like they have been here for years,
and hijacking, what is that, back and forth banter, that sometimes takes a slight tangent before coming back to centre. Nothing more.

Lighten up you lot, give zute a break, stop taking yourselves so seriously.
    At least scrambler is civil.

At now 445 posts I still consider nyself to be a bit if a newby. I was lucky I was a grumpy old ba*#$%d before I found this place so I guess that gave me a head start.

Shows how smart I am though, I still havent bothered looking for the links about topics (might one day) To tell the truth some times I find the repetition of questions a bit boring but other (and most) of the time I realise that I have bent, broken, smashed, repaired, fixed, modified, kicked, cursed and generally attempted to get my landrovers to the point that I have no more challenges left more than most.

As such when I read the posts some I dont bother replying to, as someone has said what I would have and no point hearing it twice. But other times I read it and usually with a bit of humor answer to the best of my ability by giving options not straight yes no answers and occasionally opinions.

Landrovers are a learning curve, after 28 years of owning them I am still on that curve hence some of my dumb **** questions, and occasionally an intelligent answer to a question.

One of the reasons why I own landrovers (apart from being the best 4x4) is the comaradarie that there is between owners of them (usually) and lets face it landrover service in Oz leaves a bit to be desired so we end up with the likes of AULRO which in my non to humble opinion is the best site for us there is, for both newbies and grumpy old men/women

Who was that boxer who said "and I lubs you all"

    now I'm gunna be sick

Ah yes it was Jeff Fennic

    Cheers all
