Dont have the code for mine and suspect 1 day the battery will pack it in rendering the radio useless, so, is the unit a standard "double din" size, and will any "double din" size head unit just slide into the slot (such as one off ebay)? (double din is about the limit of my car stereo knowledge!).

Which model radio is it? There are several different ones that have been used and each involves a different method for the code.

Also code is sometimes the last digits of the serial no on the back of the radio unit.

2000 D2, single cd with optional (not fitted but has buttons on head unit) stacker. No tape, pretty bog standard.

    Does this sound like it:

6 buttons along the bottom, the from left to right are arrows up/down, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, play, pause.

The unit displays CODE 1 and some how you enter the 4 digits. If you get it wrong it shows CODE 2, then CODE 3 then ---- ---- and you are locked out of the radio for about 1 hour.

Use the preset keys to enter the number press 1 until correct 1st digit, press 2 until correct second etc.

If its slightly different to this just try pressing the presets for each digit. Once the last digit is entered it should just work.

Thanks for the info, but the radio is still working, and I dont have the code when the battery does decide to go flat.

Having just had a look at it, it looks more like 1 1/2 din - not easily replaceable?

All the radios in the Discovey's series 1 & 2 are a single DIN unit.
It is just the face that is 1 1/2 DIN.
If u remove it you can just fit a normal single DIN head unit, Alpine(which i have) Kenwood, Pioneer etc...

    Cheers.

Thanks for that. I was thinking maybe getting one with a screen for a reversing camera (to stop me reversing over the kids bikes, or the kids!). So when you replce it with a single DIN unit, do you have to make a new face to cover the gaps? And what does DIN stand for?
