Somethings amiss. They should work straight away.
Might be something in the switch
This morning driving home at 4:30am in heavy fog. The intermittent wipers and the continuous wipe action would not work for a long while (10-15 minutes) The single swipe and wash/wipe would work, but this was a pain as the screen kept misting up.
They eventually started working after I left them on. But this took several minutes.
Is this just a D2 LR thing or does some relay need replacing ?

When they do start working, they work fine for the rest of the trip. Its only when you first use them first thing. Its like some diode needs to warm up or its waiting for the longest intermittent time before it starts.
I'll have a look at the wiring diagrams
Mine does the same with the indicators... Could it be a similar set of contacts on the steering column that need cleaning? Thats what I was told to do with my problem.

Ok, Thanks. I start pulling connectors apart and cleaning. Glad its not something that every one has and just lives with, as that would drive me nuts.
Sounds like dirty contacts to me.
Land Rovers tend to do it the old way. Power straight through the switches and not via relays.![]()
Hi,
Just wondering if you found anything amiss? My D2 is doing the exact same thing - turn on intermittent and wait - no go. Then full on cause it's raining then back to intermittent and it works no problem. Also if you leave the car overnight with the wiper set to intermittent and start it up the next day the wipers start straight away and stay in intermittent.
It sounds to me like a bad connection but could also be a cracked or dry solder joint somewhere where high current can warm things up and get working - perhaps in a solenoid connection???
Any joy with your findings? Where is the best place to start looking please?
Thanks and Cheers
Peter
