    Defender TD5 cruise control

    Hi,

Do you want a cruise control for your TD5 Defender for nearly nothing (some cable and some switches)? Activate the in build one in the ECU. Have a look under:
    http://www.blacklandy.de/wbb2/thread.php'threadid=19514

It only works with ECUs from MY 2002 and younger!!!

I'm not aware that anyone has used that site, but plenty of people are using the on-board cruise. I am one, but I couldn't find the wiring diagram so bought the kit to do it

Interesting! The 2 switches I get, but what is the diagram saying about pins 10/11 and 15/17. Is that the on or off switch, or are these pins not connected at all?

With this version no de-energising and programming work are necessary

I'd guess that's where they are wired up to the connector plug - so the line from 10 joins 15 (the german says something about being clamped), with the set switch between pins (10,15) & 11, and the resume across (10,15) & 17.

Don't know why the rpm pin (19) is shaded on the connector diagram.

But that's running on some unreliable german, and no understanding whatsoever of the ECU, so don't blame me if I'm wrong!

If it works, I might try it myself.

ok ok, I will translate it for you:

The plug on top is the black plug on the ECU under the seat.

The pins on the ECU will be connected the following way:
    Pin 10 - ignition +12V
    Pin 11 - switch 1 (set function)
    Pin 15 - ignition +12V
    Pin 17 - switch 2 (resume function)

Pin 19 - is only mentioned, that you can connect here the available TD5 tachometer, not used for the cruise control

So the cruise control works by supplying ignition +12V to pin 10/15 permanently and the functions are activated by supplying the same temporary to pin 11 or 17.

For getting the ignition switched +12V (Zuendplus Klemme 15), if I remember correctly, when I had last time my dash off, use the green/white cable at the temperature or fuel gauge in the dash. Put two switches on the dash and run a long cable to the ECU.

More clear now? It works on my TD5 but no guarantee

I assume the cruise control will disconnect when brake or clutch pedals are depressed with this set-up?

    Very necessary for safety reasons!

    Cheers,

The kit that I had installed had a master on/off switch too?
