so what ya sayin is they were parts of unknown vintage and unknown history...
you were on the rev limiter on a muddy hill and suddenly got some grip and the old CV went pop...
were you really shocked? from what I read it probably had little to do with the 20 year old county (or was it Rangie?) CV
maybe you should rename your thread title to:
"county driver expects a lot out of old parts"
if you have the budget for ashcrofts, go for it... or buy the ebay $65 CV's

Mate I wreck classic rangies and have dozens of stock CV's laying around, I've always abused my stuff to much, just showing that despite unknown vintage, I've never broken a stock RR CV......diffs, axles, tranfers, gearbox's.....yea lots of them
No grip to be had on this hill
I thought about stronger stuff, but if you abuse the **** out of your stuff, there has to be a weak point![]()
while no doubting it's fun, sometime in your future the time required to fix everything you break will become a limiting factor - then me thinks you will have to tone down the driving style a tad!
how do I know? been there done that 15 years back... now I'd rather keep my vehicle in one piece, my wallet in my pocket and my free time "free" doing lots of things other than repair self inflicted damage!![]()
Yea, but I'm still young, and wrecking rangies for the last 5 years helps keep the costs downand I earn WAAAAAAYYY to much money
although time is dwindling trying to transform 6 acres from hovel to flash
But thats your view and despite knowing its right, its just not as much fun![]()
Go hard Rovercare enjoy your youth and your income.....You got the rest of your life to turn into a Jam swappping , cardigan wearing landrover soft roader
As for your CV's Im impressed that was a torqey front wheel hit gripping again after a bounce wasnt it..it exploded one and sheared the other..well done.
If you have the money give the Ashcrofts ago and you can be my crash test dummie for them..I carry a spare CV in my drive kit as Im expecting the worst as I enjoy my 4wheeling aswell.
Last thing your Nick.. change it to "rovercare-Less" about breaking it![]()
