Do you have the early 4 weld rims or the later 8 weld rims? (This is the number of welds securing the centre to the outside section)

Being an 1998, you should have the latter already which are an improvement over the 4 welds.

It could also just be that the wheel balancer is out of calibration, or a mounting error.
Did the bloke who did it do a static balance on the wheel and tyre before a dynamic balance?

Did he also ensure the tyre was mounted properly on the rim with the high and low spots matching, seating the bead to 40psi then inflating them up to 60psi to ensure they seated as best they could, deflating them down to 38psi?
then you may proceed with your balancing procedure as you said.

It'll be the wheels as Scouse says.

Early ones were shockers. Had mine trued up by Mag Wheel Repairs, & no two were the same. Its as if the rims were welded to the centre by hand without a jig.

The warranty claim wasn't an issue, but the backlog in replacing them was. I had a Sydney-Perth-Sydney trip in 94, hence the need to fix the damn things.

Took some arguing to hang onto the fixed ones when the replacements arrived!

I daresay that's why there's so many Disco steelies around.

    Regards
