I swapped the Patrol over to it several years ago to rationalise coolants, although the tractor is still on Prestone green, which reminds me it's due to be changed too

    Well there you go!

As an aside, Rick130 confirms what Caltex told me too. Here is a question I asked their tech line and their response (see below).

    Peter,
Caltex Extended Life Coolant, when mixed 50/50 with good quality water (distilled, de-ionised, or tank water) is our top-of-the-range cooant, right round the world. Caltex has been supplying Land Rover coolant to Land Rover as a rebrand of this product, and as such should be very suitable for your older unit as well.

Anti-Freeze Anti-Boil Coolant vs Extended Life Coolant

    Hi,

I have a 1997 Land Rover Discovery Turbo Diesel (300Tdi). The manual says to use a normal ethylene glycol based coolant with a 50% mix. Normally this would be your Anti-Freeze Anti-Boil Coolant product.

Is your Extended Life Coolant fine to use my car or is it only suitable in new motor vehicles? I'm aware that the newer Discovery II (Td5 motor) is only allowed to use the newer coolant, but I'm curious to know if it safe for my older engine?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Peter

Where in Melbourne can I buy the Caltex long life coolant from? Do the likes of Repco, Bursons or Supacheap sell this stuff?
