    Toyota engine into Rangie

I'm Ali's kid brother and know nothing about Toyota's.

Is there a conversion kit available for a HJ60 4lt diesel turbo onto a ZF 4 speed auto range rover box.

I would rather use the Auto box I have in the RRC than the Toyota box I have been offered with the Engine.

Above all else is it worth it for power or just a guttles wonder

I fitting it to a LSE my 4.2 heads went a few months ago and its been parked up for a while..

I only want to look a Diesel due to the LSE has 35's on it and is doing about 7 mpg in the UK where fuel is nearly £1 per ltr ($3 per liter in your money).

    Thanks

even if you could shoehorn the 2H in ( or is it a 12HT?? ), it is oh so gutless.. I have owned many toyota's and although it is a reasonably reliable engine, I would also look at something else ( not to mention the weight of the thing.....)

Is the Defa engine bay longer than a Rangie as I have seen a 2HT in a Defa and it went well.

But in saying that, they arnt a power house and they are heavy as hell and the Defa used the toyota gearbox and transfercase im pretty sure.

There was a Defa hybrid 100" in a mag I have here somewhere with a Toymotor 6cyl im pretty sure as well.

I havnt seen one in a Rangie before and not connected to a ZF box.

My mate has a 2 door Rangie with a 6 cylinder diesel Tojo motor AND he has a Hybrid / Defender with a 6 cylinder turbo diesel Tojo motor in it.

In a Rangie there is lots of work needed to fit it - radiator is almost in the grill etc.

I can get some pix if needed? Or just get Ali to email me.

NOT THE 4 litre,it was a slow dog.
The 4.2 HZJ diesel is much stronger/cheaper to rebuild/economical/powerful.
There was a Rangie featured in Aust.4WD Monthly a while ago with the 4.2,search their website you may find details on it.It was painted camo colours,a beast.
BUT I CANT SEE MYSELF EVER USING A TOJO MOTOR

IMHO, the best Toyota diesel engines to put in a rangie would be:
    15B-T (4104cc)
    14B-T (3660cc)
    13B-T (3431cc)

These are 4 cylinder, direct injection, turbo engines.

There are a couple of firms in the UK who make diesel engine conversion kits for LR's including adaptors to ZF's. The Isuzu 4JB1T is a compact engine and cheap to purchase in the UK (buy a rusted out Isuzu Trooper as a donor)

There was a post on Outer Limits with lots of photos regarding this conversion which was done in the UK.

What are LPG prices like there? Fitting a gas kit would be a lot easier than an engine conversion.
