    Hi Ali,
Cooked my ZF coming back off Fraser one afternoon ( tranny temp sender stopped working). Next day on Inskip point the box was behaving like your symptoms.
LR dealer on the phone asked me to grap the top end of the kickdown cable and pull the inner cable - sure enough it came right out. The bottom end is "aparently" held in a plastic clip? which melted the day before.
Long story but later it was repaired and serviced and hasn't missed a beat since.
Local gearbox guy says the ZF is a good box, "just keep changing the fluids and filter on a regular basis"
Dunno if this helps, but I hope you get to the bottom of it.

since i need to do servicing and adjustments on autos as a competancy and not knowing how you did your oil change I will tip that you might still have contaminated oil in the system (about 4l's worth can hide in the TC and other components) If you want hoist access or access to oil disposal facilites to do a proper job on it drop me a pm, (only cause its one of inc's ex jobbies tho)

    What a suck job Dave

Question, Im sure ive seen it covered before in here somewhere but what is the best way of changing the oil in the TC in these things.

Ive normally used the cooler lines unless there is a drain plug like the old commodes and H series holdens.

yeah but theres a reason for that, there are some things afoot at work that require me to be off my apprenticeship ASAP so Im going to be begging, borrowing stealing broken rovers from here to make that happen. Ive been subtle(in my own way) and touchie feelied my way around it before but if the info is right the next run at it will be with the big guns.

hifalutently it takes about 3 fluid changes and a if you want to get pedantic about it 2 filters to get it right

its a cable that runs from the transmission to the throttle linkage on the pump or the butterfly. (diesel or V8) and the adjustment shoudl be up on the engine side. Slacken it off and then tighten it up untill its shifting like you think it should. Rave will give you the correct adjustment.
