Hi All
Just fitted the 265 cooper STT to the Disco
and as you would imagine the spare doesnt fit unless its placed backward Im wondering if this will cause any issues to the door hinges![]()

i dunno for sure but wouldnt think it should
Im confident it wont (assuming its a D1) as I modded my on door mount to hold the spare + a second carcass in the one position. (picture duals on the carrier)

Most people invert the carrier, and that will allow up to a 33". There should be a writeup somewhere on how to do this. You can also slightly drop the bumper by loosening the bolts, sliding it down and retighhtening.

Fair enough. Its most definately more than a 10 min job though. You'll need to redrill the centre bolts on the carrier spacer and be aware that the nuts are not captive on the inside of the rear door, so you need to pull the trim off. Be super careful doing this, and do it on a warm day as the plastic clips are brittle. Before the carrier goes on you'll also need to either grind it for clearance for the wiper, though some people rotate the wiper by 1 spline for clearance.

Another option is to use an adapter plate to raise the height of the tyre rather than invert it.
I have run 265 for ages now and the hinge is fine. You will find (like most discos) that you will get more dust ingress around the rear seals as you have more weight on the back of the door. This extra weight flexes the door when closed which I think opens up the seals more, sucking in dust. Not a major issue though...its only dust.

it looks kinda cool in a way because I opted to have the wrighting on the inside of the rims on the spare the white wrighting shows and the way its mounted it readable looks cool
I rather go the adaptor plate but dont know where to get one from![]()
