I have used two on my D1 before selling the vehicle. Kept the megapulses for the new vehicle.
Both batteries were well into their fifth year of operation and showed no signs of giving up. regular tests with the hydrometer also indicated good condition. Looking at battery cells with a torch indicated that there was very little build-up on the cell walls.

I built the Jaycar kit, and have used it on quite a few batteries now. Seems to work as long as the plates aren't damaged.

I was given two 120aH battery from a wrecker, managed to get one up to full capacity, the other would only hold charge for a few days despite many weeks of zapping etc. Considering that neither of them had any charge whatsoever, and would not take any charge either. It was a good result.

Problem with the big battery - I could not fit it in the Discovery, so I bought a 80AH deep cycle from Supercharge which fits in the passenger side hole perfectly.

However the big battery fits in the Lada Niva perfectly - I could probably drive it on the starter motor by itself now

I've tried the Jaycar "Battery Refresher" MB3660..

Took it back as it needed something like 12.5 volts for the thing to work. Problem was, my battery would not charge to this voltage in the first place. Did not want to leave connected to a charger to have the refresher work.

Sort of like medicine for well people.

Jaycar were good with the refund. I believe kit zapper may have a lower operating voltage.

AFAIK, they are usually designed with a low voltage cut off so that they only work while the battery is being charged!
    Stops them flattening the battery.LOL.
    Is this ironic or what.

Tony i visited my local j car store today they sell 2 types of unit
Theres the battery zapper kit which also has other features and is in kit form and looks fairly complex tho do able ..

Then theres the battery conditioner its dose just the zapping with out the extras of the battery zapper ..

    They retail 99.95 and 49.99 respectivly ...

But i also went to my local battery world and had my battery load tested to its max he wound it up and it went to 600CCA were it should have hit 1000CCA as its an 830CCA batery this is what he had told me and it may be right or wrong who knows ...

He then told me that a zapper wont help my battery as the zapper is for batterys that sit round and dont get used much and are not regulary charged and also pointed out that the hydro window in the battery was green and it means the battery isnt sulfated and that mine is dieing a slow death and may last another year but will only supply 600CCA and reserve capacity is also down

sorry but your battery dude got it wrong....

an 830CCA amp will never deliver 1000CCA on any tester if it did it would be a 1000CCA battery not an 830CCA.

the indicator in those batteries is a very basic hydrometer that measures the density of the acid... Sulphation of the battery has nothing to do with the acid density.... (well ok it does but not enough to upset one of those things) Sulphation of the battery occours when the plates get covered in lead sulphate, a by product of the reaction between the plates and the electolyte, and the zappers remove this by way of electrically breaking the bonds between the lead sulphate and the natural metal in the plates....

I dont have a good anology of this about the closest I can come is blowing out an air filter.

All the dust collects in it and blocks the little pores this stops the air from flowing through the filter. the dust is put there by very low pressure air... so thats working like a battery slowly dying as it delivers electricity as the sulphate blocks all the pores where the electricity can flow through...

Now to clean out an air filter by pushing high pressure air through it in the opposite direction you can knock the dust out of the filter and it will work again. But it wont work as well as before. The zappers do the same thing but with a high spike of voltage.
