Hi, We travelled the Canning last year in my 2004 Td5. Had 40+ litre sill tanks made from my own 'plug' by Alby Hammersley in Victoria [He's made LR tanks for most of my RR's & Disco's since the 1980's] really well made - a few small modifications for the Td5 when we installed them. These coupled with an ARB BIG main tank & small auxillary would be ideal but you will need extra HD springs and 'polyairs'. I installed Konis - mega bucks but so good! + recaros + BFG ATs no tyre problems even with Anne Beadell/Connie Sue...before the Canning! Rear in bumper lights did fall off though!!!!! With fuel 'readily' available at 3 communities en route you will have no trouble - We did the side trips to the Calvert Range [not allowed at present] + Rudall River N.P. ...
