Thread: Second tank for 130

Hi JamesB, I haven't done this but I seem to remember reading about someone putting a standard tank under the driver's seat, filled from beneath the seat cushion.I do not know if this is legal or indeed wise but it is one idea.There is also the long range tank option, although more expensive than the above idea.Cheers, 130man.

Yea I have heard of people doing that. That's using sill tanks from a series. As long as you don't have a TD5 you can do it. The TD5 has it's electricery under the drivers seat.

Hi George 130, something else I read on this forum, I think, was that there is enough slack in the cables to allow the electronics to be repositioned under the locker in the centre thus clearing the way for tanks, storage etc under the driver's seat.What do you think of that idea?The suggestion was that the electronics would be above the seat base and therefore slightly higher than their current position.Cheers, 130man.

Mine has a sill tank which runs under the drivers side doors. It was on the truck when we bought it. The fuel cap carries the "aunger"? brand. Holds about 60 lts which gives me 900 - 1000 kms range. It doesnt hang down or get in the way for off roading. I Like it. Would love a stainless steel one on the other side for water if i could afford it.

I've an LRA sill tank on the drivers side. I think it's supposed to be 65-70 litres, only ever been able to fill it that much a few times, usually max's out at 55l as the filler is horizontal for 6" or so and the bugger blows back a bit, regardless of how I've routed the breather.

Also depends on the slope of the servo driveway as to how it fills.

Where would the filler go for the tank bearing in mind my rig is a 130 dualcab tdi with the standard HPCU tray body on it?

in the cab just behind the rear drivers side door and it goes through behind the seat and about 6-7 inches in it goes vertical down through the floor.

Yes I have heard that. With what happened the time I tought mine to swim it was a good thing that the electrics were in the seat. When the cap started to flood the center console got drenched and the remote locking unit had to be opened and cleaned before my hazards would stop. The section under the seat with the ECU and bits only half flooded so I still had 1cm of space before it all went under. Thought I wasn't going to make it that time.
