Little Black Box into 1997 300 Tdi Discovery

Hi all, I have just purchased a Little Black Box alarm to fit into my Discovery but I am stuck. The instructions are for the 300 Tdi Defender and pictures show fitting into a Td5 Disco both are not much help to me. I am in Hoppers Crossing Victoria so if anyone is nearby and can offer some help I would really appreciate it or if there are some better instructions for fitting into my specific vehicle I wouldn't mind a copy emailed to me. Failing that, if anyone wants to buy this from me for what I paid I will get something else and get it installed by someone who knows what they are doing. It cost me $160 plus ten bucks postage.

    Regards
    Col

I have but was hoping that somebody may have fitted it to a 300 Tdi Discovery and could post some details of what goes where and where to fit the brass sender that comes in the kit.

I don't know the 300 TDI's. on my TD5 I put the temp sensor near the back of the block. Just removed one of the nuts for the lifting hook and screwed it into that. If the TDI has similar then that would be your best bet.

    Col,
They sound a worthwhile device,I would persevere and get in touch with www.littleblackbox.co.za I am sure they can supply the directions for a 300TDI Disco if requested.Otherwise try their OZ rep Jan.Dippenaar@coates.com.au.
I am going to put their low coolant alarm in my similar Disco,so let us know how you go.

I have given up on it after two wasted days trying to work it out. The wiring under the fascia of the Disco is a nightmare and I have been looking through the Rave diagrams trying to get colour codes and what goes where. I don't know where to safely tap into the Alternator, Oil and Ignition. The coolant level and temp switch are easy and the main box mounts easy under the right central switch block under the clock. The temp sender screwed straight into the front of the head between the thermostat housing and the oil dip stick. It seems nobody has ever fitted one of these to a 300 Tdi Discovery. If somebody has I wish they would give me a hint as to how to wire it. It also seems that you need a calibration box to set it up correctly otherwise it is a bit of guess work. I didn't know that before I bought it and thought it would be a Plug and Play item. I have contacted Jan to see if he will take it back and refund my money. Anybody want it let me know.

Col, you would do yourself a big favour by putting your location and information about yourself in your profile.

This way we may be able to help or at least we might be able to point you in the direction of a local that might be able to help.

I understand your frustration on buying something and then not being able to install it but it could be an easy fix.

    Don't give up yet.

Profile done. If anything needs to be added let me know. This is different to the other bike forums that I log on to.
