Yep, the mount on the shaft will screw off and a rubber one screwed back on. The mount on the shock body has to be machined off and a new one TIG welded back on again - to do this they need to completely strip the shock.

Yep, I've never seen a non bootfab method for the top mounts though, and I'm not sure how you'd do the fronts. I've never setup any retainer etc though, so I'm not really up to speed on this stuff.

Yep, the ACE hydraulic will keep hitting the panhard chassis mount otherwise.

In my opinion 10" is most definately the way to go and due to the design of the suspension links and the way they naturally bind as the car articulates, I really dont think that there will be a gain from running 12" shocks on the D2. The only time you will see that extra travel is when you're airborne. Also, as a tradeoff you will lose more compression travel due to the longer shock. That bit you are a lot more likely to notice.
    Cheers

In my infamous wisdom I thought that id go 12 inches that will limit the shock from bottoming out I might go the same shock in that case with a 10 inch travel

I suppose though it would have been better if I extended the shock mounts or way off track again

I might try and also find the same shock that you have with this mob and see what prices they are there

stay tuned for my next great adventure

This project seems to be taking a long time I think some of us may be over hearing about it.

The time this talking has been going on the whole job should be done.

    Cheers

yeah its that easy is it,

its exactly like going to ARB and getting a 2 inch lift and allowing someone over a counter to tell you what and what you need just like million of other four wheel drivers,

after all for most machine that only see there front lawn as off road driving

its that easy to pick brains and get all the info from those that have been there and done that then trying to get parts put together from parts that don't exist here in Australia not to mention the cost if they are here appose to that over seas then to try and replicate the same thing that others have done sucessfully and try and adopt new range of parts

but so that your up to speed with the whole thing piddler the springs have been order and awaiting delivery the extended brake lines and ABS lines I have, Im still waiting delivery of the front sway bar links and modified watt linkages shocks have been ordered and only thing now to buy are bump stops and spring retainers

for those that are wealthy like your self piddler these thing may happen over night however with me I like to get all the info and do it right I might throw an idea and wait till the people with knowledge shut it down with wisdom

so hold on to the seat of your pants as I have another 2 week before the springs arrive

hehehehehehe unbelievable, you know what they say about over hearing, don't you, its called don't lessen

but im sure alot of people other then my self have picked up a few new thing thanks to help Slunnie and others
