    Starter Motor TD5

    Dumb ass question.
Any one know the bolt sizes and also the stud for mounting the starter motor on the TD5?
Some how both bolts and the stud have escaped from my engine bay.
I can under stand them coming undone but why would the stud undo instead of the bolt? or are the Yoto drivers around my way pulling things out when I'm not looking?

Sorry, I cannot help you on that one George. I am sure Blknight will chip in with the answers though.

I think it might be bit of fault witth them all. When I first got mine (2005) i checked the engine bay for loose bolts and found exactly that, both nuts and studs loose.

I just got some blue loctite and put them back. Stong enough to hold them in place, weak enough to undo if need be.

torsional stress would be my first guess and vibration the second.

when you put them back together even tho its not in the manual put a heavy duty washer on them with a spring washer between the head of the bolt and the heavy duty washer.

Beeing home with a stomach bug I haven't been out to get the bolts yet. Thanks all and now I know what bolts to order.
Will add the lock washers so it won't happen again.
