Wow! Wow!
My rig is soo much smoother! It's a lot easier to drive. No more accelerate with 5 second delay followed by 100% power! Love the change

I have just "fixed" my EGR system. I took the truck out for a spin this morning after just blocking the vac hoses temporarily with screws and unplugging the soganoids (i think thats how you spell it). and it was smoother and seemed to pull better up hill
. I cant wait to see how much difference it'll make at the pump.
I have (had) a type 2 EGR system and have just about stripped all the bollocks associated with it and was wondering if it was possible to use the vent hose to the air box to replace the section of hose from the brake servo to the vac hose pump with the "T" piece in it. It would save me getting a pluggy thing and it would look like it was never there

Its interesting that some get better results than other with egr kits. Mine is an eu3 motor which is more restrictive than the the eu2. The kit made a big difference.
BTW My kit is home made. It took a mate 1 hour to make one out of bits from the scrap bin. I Gave him my egr and one of the pipes to the manifold and he just made a kit to suit out of stainless. Cost $30. I would advise not buying one and just get one made, cheaper and no waiting. Fitting instructions are online everywhere.

EGR removal
I have made my own blanking plates and installed as per instructions on this forum, I have not noticed any significant change in performance but reduced temperatures at the back of the inlet valves have to be good for the lifespan of the engine.
As I use the 2002 defender to tow a large caravan I have fitted EGtemp guage, Transfer case oil temp and engine oil pressure guage to help with monitoring stress on the engine under load.
I have also fitted a Roverdrive to allow me to tow in 4th gear to keep gearbox temps down and reduce wear on the gearbox.
The vehicle is ten years old and apart from a crank sensor problem causing difficult engine starting I have had no other mechanical problems but I do all my servicing myself which I am sure helps the reliability others sometime complain about.
In the long road of life a landrover should always be part of the journey
