Having trouble with my transponder, it will not unlock the doors of the 02 Disco. Have changed the batteries but still doesnot work. Will lock the doors okay, but will not unlock them. Have to unlock the doors using the key, and once you put the keys in the ignition and turn it a 1/4 the alarm goes off. Starts Okay.
My 2nd transponder gave up the ghost a couple of years ago. Am I up for new transponders ($500.00 each) or is there something else I should be looking at?
Cheers.

I have had a look through all of the threads Re door locks and feel my problem is different to the already posted threads.
1) All the door locks do not unlock with the transponder but lock
2) The alarm does not deactivate either
Am I right to presume it is the transponder or the reciever and any way of testing either or.
About the only thing I can think of is you get someone to confirm the keys are transmitting and being received OK to the BCU. There is a rolling code that each key updates everytime it is acknowledge by the BCU. If the key fails to be acknowledge the code won't change (on lock or unlock). There is a FOB test ability in Testbook, Rovacom etc.

If I unlock the drivers door with the key, and then try the transponder a couple of times it will unlock the remaining doors and deactivates the alarm.
Last night I took the transponders apart and fixed them. The old one that had not worked for the past 2years I took apart first. I sprayed it down with electronic cleaner, let it dry and then made sure the battery was making proper contact. Put it back together and it works.
The 2nd transpondre was different. I too took it apart and discovered that the micro switch that operated the unlocks, where it was soldered in place, one of the solders had broken and would move and not make contact. I re soldered it back in place and presto all works again. Now I have two keys back working.
The best part of the whole deal is i said to the wife (it is her car afterall) That now that I saved her $500.00+ on fixing the keys myself, can I put that money towards new suspension, and expecting a NO, she said "Can you wait until after christmas and all the bills are paid", of course I can.
CRIPES!I repaired the Magi-Mix blender on Wednesday & the Frigidaire Electric range yesterday.
Should I be starting a shopping list then?
I reckon $500 as well.
