Thanks Dave, I got it sorted, got it completely ass about.
It goes srping first then plunger then retainer.
All working, no strong arm steering for me
Thanks 4bee for the encouragement to persist![]()
from your pic, working left to right maintaining orientation as you have them laid out plunger srping then the retainer.
If you look closely at them you will be able to see a ring on the face where it sits on the seat when the engine is off and the spring will have left wear marks on the 2 places it sits on the retainer and the plunger.
from memory thats not the primary pressure relief valve but the flow regulator valve.
IF the wear marks do not line up with assembly as ive described it Phone me and I'll dig out the workbook on hydraulic pumps and get it out of there.
(pm with my details being sent)

Pleasure.
I thought the plunger would be onto the seat & held on by the spring which supplied the bypass opening pressure & then the retainer.
A clear photo would have been good for future reference. I don't suppose you fancy ripping it out again?![]()

When I resealed mine I managed to reassemble it every way possible until I got it correct. No assistance, too much assistance, etc. That was a coupl eof years ago, no long term issues.
Unfortunately I haven't gotten away with it.
Getting variable assistance, the little valve/piston thingy is sticking in the bore and not moving freely. After I put it in the wrong way it didn't come out easily, so some damage done.
