can you too boys just get a room or something and get the thread back to the subject at hand. I want to see if I've got a sponsor for a round the world drive like the one Kookynet are doing in their TD5 130

    WRONG

They are D2's yes and they do have electronics but they are all V8's and they are not at all on standard suspention.

They are on ARB fitted OME 2" lifted springs and larger and extended shocks.

The vehicals were supplied by LR USA and originated in calafornia (sp?), they have an alloy rack, Hannible roof top tents (the same as mine), long range tanks and 4 plastic jerrys on the roof full of petrol.

The reason they went for petrol rather than diesel LR's I read was the quality of the fuel couldnt be guarenteed and the V8's dont mind as much as the TD5 (apparently).

They ran Mobil 1 and BFG mud terrains on after market steel wheels.

Thats about all I know about them, I came across a whole heap of info on them through my oil agent and they are the reason that we started looking at the Hannible tents.

Got to admit my TD5 managed to get me home with it's cactus head on many an occasion. I did some 30-40,000km with the blown head before I was able to confirm what the problem was. It only had to be towed home once and that was when the oil cooler blew. after the rebuild. No other car I have owned was capable of doing the same.

TD 5 owners need to give some of their money away to needy D1 owners.

$200 worth of spare sensors in the kit for the hell of it, Sat phones and happy to spend $5k on transporting their car out of the simpson is all a little pricey for me when they would still have to carry the same spares as I do as well i.e. belts, hoses and the odd part like rubber dohunt etc.

That $200 could go a long way as far as servicing and repairs go on a 300TDI as well as it would get me about 1100kms in fuel and $5k could buy me a whole second hand engine which I could easilly fit in the middle of the simpson after using a D2 owners sat phone to order one from the nearest LR wrecker and getting it on the next trailer of truck heading my way.

    Geez $5k would buy me a whole rego'd D1 V8 or a Rangie.

Like I said, it all comes down to money and how much you have......Not really worth argueing about it...

    WRONG

Now there a tad cheaper you could get your own, that way you could splurge out and get your own personalised plates, I think NOI-T4L may be available in VIC if not INO-4CL
