Whayne i would suggest you would be looking at around $1500.00 plus for the job
hey all...
just wondering what's a reasonable ball park price these days for a shop to overhaul a clutch in 300Tdi Disco ?
.. assuming including replacement of all necessary bits and rear main seal.
gathering quotes this week.
Whayne i would suggest you would be looking at around $1500.00 plus for the job
why, whats it doing (or not doing)?
around the $1800 mark![]()
130's rule
release bearing on half pedal depression noisy getting worse, rattles from bell housing on start up ( maybe pads on the clutch plate are loose or some issue with fork ), shudder on take off getting worse, rear main engine seal leaking, Mech reckons by feel of it clutch fork may be wearing on pivot point.. ( i think that's what he said.),
..not slipping as far as I can tell.
nothing a show stopper (yet) but don't want it to pack up on me in the bush.
bit disappointing as car's only done 120,000km ..i was hoping to get more out of a clutch.
Ray what you said is about what i've been quoted ....so all's good.
around the $1500 mark in these parts.
Interestingly, about the same for TLC's and Patrols.

Whayne also have pivot checked when done i was lucky when they had to redo rear main found aluminium braket had cracked. The pivot pin would have dropped out and no clutch can supply prices of all parts if you req.
I had the clutch fork on the Disco break last August & the mechanic suggested that ever though the clutch was only half worn (180,000km), it would be worth replacing while the gearbox was out.
All up - $1300. By the sound of the estimates above, I got it cheap!
