    Oil for Hydrocarbon Air Con.

I've collected enough fittings to recharge my formerly R12 aircon with hydrocarbon gas. The r12 leaked out about 10 years ago.

Is there a common oil which can be substituted for the lubricant in the system? My pump was off a few months back and appears to contain none.

Why do you want to put lpg in your aircon. Maybe I've missed something wouldn't be the first time.

You can use lpg as a refrigerant in a/c systems.

In addition to what the other guys said. To convert an R12 system to the R134a which all the commercial guys want to use will cost me big bucks. The LPG is cheaper, easier to get, more environmentally friendly (i.e. not an ozone deplete) and compatible with the parts I already have.

Yes I am waiting for Ladas to chime in with the oil, but he might not be the only knowledgable one.

Thanks, but I was hoping to find a more garden variety of replacement. Hopefully a mineral oil rather than synthetic as I live in hicksville.

I had my RR classic converted and it wasn't expensive. All that was changed was the receiver dryer.

If you get a good aircon guy that'd probably be right. But the guys here would be charging me for receiver/dryer, oil, fittings, dye, seals etc as well as the gas. On top of all that, LPG appears to be a better gas than R134a so I'm going down that route.
