There would've been a few swear words learnt in those first 72 hours, too, I'd expect.
It never would stop amazing me the ability of some to use the f... word every second word and then automatically stop when a lady passed by
I did not speak much Ozitralian when I arrived here and I learned as I went so to me the f... word was a part of the "normal" vocabulary.... but not for long after some embarrassing moments when some work mates invited me for a beer at the local RSL

MY Yugoslav former neighbour learned his English on building sites and he too thought building site language was normal. He was Serbian Orthodox and only read in Cyrillic so he only ever got oral instruction in English. To see and hear him having a conversation with the other neighbour, a very strait-laced devout Baptist lady was a wonderful experience as she never changed expression or tried to correct Drago. My God, couldn't they throw a party. At least two days of eating, drinking, singing, drinking, dancing, drinking for a major event like a child's christening.
