Question Defender 130 Indicator and A/C electrical problem

My son and his learned mates tried to jump start a vehicle last night using the 130. Now the indicators or the A/C don't work.

The 130 is a '97 2.5 diesel. The A/C control is a dial type switch below the steering wheel. I have checked the main fuse panel, the fuses in the battery compartment, the fuse block in the engine bay and followed the wires back from both the A/C compressor and the indicators but cannot find any blown fuses. Strangely the hazard indicators work fine and you can hear the flasher can clicking when the hazards are operating.

What I would like to find out are there any fuses or relays that could be blown in an obscure location?

    Thanks for the reply Ladas

No I haven't, can you point me in the direction as to where it should be located. I'm new to the LR130 world and the circuit diagram I have doesn't show a fusible link that I can see.

    Cheers

can't think of anywhere else something can be hidden, looks like you'll be tracing wires.

BTW, how the hell did they jump something from the 130 ?
If anyone asks me I just tell them I can't access the battery easily, although I have two stuffed under the seat, which makes it nigh on impossible anyway.

    Hi Marlin,

Being an older vehicle, someone may have run extra earth lines direct to the battery to solve previous electrical problems. - Check for any brocken wires connected to the earth terminals.

Also, pull the fuses for the items not working.
    • Do the fuses have continuity (ohms on the multi meter) FUSE OK
    • Does the 12V feed side have power? 12V feed OK
    • Are other items using the same fuse now not working? this is to check that someone hasn't bypassed the 12V feed for those items.
Are there loose or broken wires connected to the positive battery terminal? for the same reason as the earths, in case there's been supplementary wiring.

let us know what you find.

The fuseable links are in the engine compartment fuse box, or should be

    Thanks,
I have checked every fuse that I can find, and none are blown, and about a month ago we have removed about 6 mile of extra wiring that went nowhere. The battery box looked like an italian chefs nightmare. The problem has arisen since the jump start was done and the only thing I can think of that it could be is a faulty relay. We changed the flasher can today and that has made no difference. I have also checked the engine bay fuse box and it only has two big 60A and one big 30a fuses and these are also ok.
