stuck in lithgow, need help urgently

    Hi guys,
Got bogged in deep water yesterday and car seems to be running in limp-mode ever since. As soon as I get to 2000 rmp the car dies and I cannot start for a while.
    Any ideas?

Check every electrical connection you can find and spray with wd40 or similar. Check that water has not gotten into ECU connector or MAF sensor. Check air filter. Disconnect and reconnect battery as may help reset computer.
You do not say wether petrol or diesel. If V8 check plug and ignition, dizzy for water.

If there's another TD5 with you take there MAF sensor and put it in yours that will tell you if that's the problem.

    Just unplug it....

TD5 will run reasonable on no MAF as opposed to a stuffed one!
(Mine ran 4 days until I noticed the connector was left off - Thanks Black Forest Landrover )

    At last Home

    Hi guys,
Thanks for all the help!! (that excludes the NRMA)
Yesterday we checked and all seemed pretty dry in the engine bay, there was water but ECU dry. Today we found water residue in the air filter and part there of, was damp. Also had a few drops of water in the pipes leading to the turbo.

Sprayed the alternator with wd40 and cleaned the fuel filter plugs , check all the connection and replaces the OIL, (thanks GreyLandy for the help). We also removed the air filter

After all this the car did not crank first time round on the second or third it started and all seems to be fine now. The initial problem where the car would cut out when I accelerated was not an issue any longer. Drove the 140km back home. I'll take the car in tomorrow for a checkup at ATV, and then the carpets...., ACE suggested to take it to a detailer (next door to ATV).

Getting back to the initial problem, when I drove into the mud hole (to fast in the first place) my front diff hit the 'middle man' and at that point the car just went dead and I could not start her for a few minutes. The she was fine for a bot died and she was good to get me back. Only in the morning did I have trouble again intermittently. Would like to know what caused the sudden shutdown, though I guess we can now only speculate on the cause.

    Thanks once again.

Im guessing the inertia switch may have shut it down.
But dont you need to press to reset.Perhaps it also self resets after a time out period.
