    Interesting Battery light!!

Suddenly out of the blue, my 1993 D1's battery light came on...

    Here is the interesting part...

The battery light gets BRIGHTER when you use the accelerator... it dims a bit when it just idles...

Obviously it also gets brighter when you turn lights etc on as well.

Shouldn't the lights DIM when you get the alternator moving quicker via acceleration?!

    It has me stumped.
I have had no problems starting it or anything, only possible side effect might be a rougher idle on LPG, however it runs great on petrol.

    Cheers.

nope it will get brighter as alternator RPMs increase. Its there in part to aid with the alternator excitation so when you have a problem with the alternator and its not making charge then the bulb lights as volts flow from the battery into the alternator. theres a handfull of circumstances when it will do it the other way around.

If when you have the ignition on the batt light is out then when you start it it comes on you have a problem somewhere.
