Lots of WD40 and bang the lock with your hand until it releases, if that fails it is probably a knackered lock.

There is only one way, you will have to use a hacksaw blade and cut the door striker on the body. You will have to cut one half from the inside, the easy half, and the other from outside trying to avoid the bodywork. A very painful job.

When they lock shut, sometimes the handle remains in the release position. Try pushing it back to the normal position while locking and unlocking the central locking. When the handle is back to where it normally sits, unlock the locks, and push on the door while sqeezing the lock and then pull it open.

If its not this, like already said above, you've just got to be whacking the black handle assy with the palm of your hand until it relents.
    Cheers

Mine is a shocker for getting stuck. it does not like the dust around here.
If I try to open it when the door is locked then it is stuck. Luckily I carry a rubber mallet with me all the time ( saves the hands ) and with the door locked I give the black handle on the out side a good whack. Unlock central locking and it should work. Some times I have to try a couple of times before it gives over. I found my fist or hand hitting would not work. Some very embarrassing moments in car parks.
I went to the trouble of taking the whole mechanism out and greasing all the parts. This made no difference after the next dirt road.
    Good luck

I found it would do this then i would park it on a slope and it would open normally the plastic around the the latch part wears away causing it to stick [sort of peels away]
also striker part worn a grove in it plus it was closing to tight as well
always happens at the most in convenit times . I fully under stand your problems

Similar problem in Defender. I know not the same problem as Disco's but oiling often the worse thing to do as it traps dust and build up to a gunk that sets hard.

Clean out & keep dry adding powdered graphite every now & again. Saves the wear as well using graphite.

    Hope this helps.

This may sound silly, but have you tried jacking the corners of the vehicle, one at a time, to see if the slight twisting will let the catch go?

It works well on D2s Bryce, since doing mine i've not had a problem for 2yrs, the lock mecanisum gets stuck when dry and dusty, WD40 helps, it also helps if you push the door before pulling the handle too open it.

When mine was jamming, we used to have to climb in the back and flick the handle or pul it and let it spring back a few times to un-jam it, this is when it gets realy stuck and banging the outside handle doesn't work, it was a real PITA on our Simpson trip
