    Cool Rover Issues

Hi all, I would like to start by saying what a great site this is!!!!

I like a lot of people here have finally purchased my first Rover...
    2000 TD5 Series 2 and I love it!!!

I have had the car around 2 months without any issues but recently I have had a couple of problems and well I am not exactly the most technical person but can find my way around.

    1. When braking from between 100-80km or braking into corners at the same speeds not hard braking either a get a shutter or vibration throw the stirring.
is this an issue with the ABS and the Turbo?

    2. When going into corners or even sometimes going over bumps I get a knocking sound from the front end sounds like ball joints or something.

    3. There is also a rattle underneath when going over bumps or bumpy roads like loose metal or something.

Can anyone help or tell me where to look. It's due for service in around 4000km so will probably sort out then but want to make sure it's nothing major.

Hi, a bit more info might help with #1.
It might be the ABS cutting in but it also might be warped discs.

#2 Knocks aren't really an issue on the D2 unless there's a bush or two worn out. Check the damper (shock absorber) mounting bushes first.

#3 You'd have to have a look underneath & tap a few things to see what's loose. It might be an exhaust heatshield or the exhaust itself. Check where the exhaust runs over the rear axle. There's a bolt there it can rub against.

The rattling could be your steering dampener check if the outer casing is loose.Mine has been doing this for awhile.
Brake shudder could be warped discs.

one of the bump stops on the front may be loose.......happened on mine & caused a knock at times....

the backing plates on the rear axle can also rattle when going over bumps if they are cracked.....mine are doing this now ..to many corrugations

    Smile

My brakes shuddered on initial brake application for 2 years.

Was about to replace discs and purchased new tyres now no shudder.

    Cheers
