    D110 - TD5 EGT Gauge Temps

    G'day Guys,

More of a report rather than a question, I installed a VDO EGT gauge to my MY02 D110 and after lots of testing getting good results.

Currently towing a camper trailer around Aus my chipped and cooled TD5 Manual runs nicely at about 500c towing at about 95kmph - rising to about 700c on hills, but then I come off the throttle a tad and the temps go back to normal.

    Just my 10c

    Cheers DW,

Sounds like ours a pretty close on the temps, even though my TRT chip is "only" the 140Kw one it has the same TRT cooler and DWE EGR removal

I have noticed that the EGT's are lower now I have increase the boost from standard - now runs to 19 PSI boost pressure.

I have even less smoke, more go and better fuel econ - was averaging 14-15L per 100kms but now getting 13-14's all while towing about 1 tonne of camper trailer / oversized MTs / roofrack etc.

So now runs about 450c when cruising and max out at just over 600c on the bigger hills when I dont change down or leave the cruise on.

    LRH,

How did you increase boost pressure? If chipped was this part of the remap i.e., increased boost? or did you do some mechanical wizard stuff and bent or turned/screwed something?

Boost pressure can be adjusted mechanicly in small ammounts by shortening the wastegate actuator, if you go to much then the ecu sees overboost and shuts fuel for asplit second untill the boost drops.

If you want to run massive boost then a "boostbox" needs fitting to stop the ecu from seeing the overboost.

    Re temps formy 2p's worth

My TD5 running my new VNT hybred turbo and my intercooler sees a max exhaust gas temp of 650c flat nacker measured from a boss in the EGR removal kit i made.
And a max inlet temp of 35c this car is running +60bhp and +110Ft/Lb 16.5Psi

All temps are measured on the dyno and on the road.

    Regards Pete

    Yup what B-A-S said!!!

Easy 2 min job, best way I found was to see where the ECU maxed out first then set the max boost just below that level.

Interested in hearing more about these Hybrid Turbos - see some UK mags mention them.
