    Electric lift pump

Well my penchant for spending as little as possible on the things that matter has come back to bite me on the a**e, again. I went cheap on the last lift pump on my 300tdi and 18 months later it's dribbling away under the bonnet worse than a teething toddler. I've seen plenty talk about replacing the mechanical lift pump with an electrical one and fitting a blanking plate, but I couldn't find the flow/pressure specs I need to match for the injector pump intake. This Facet model looks the ducks guts, a filter in a sight glass and all! Or do I just get the mechanical Delphi?
Keen to get it right this time!

Should,nt a normal 12v petrol pump do , as it is what you state a lift pump ,
The injector pump will issue the right amount of pressure to the injectors

from the ones in the PDF that your first post links to...

you need 1x ss502 and truth be told you can probabley get away with the SS500.

you should have at least 5psi feeding the injector pump and not more than 9 (from memory) mount it as far from the engine as possable and tag in a relay to drive it taking the feed from the shut off solenoid on the injector pump. Take a spare as when they over heat they can stop But that shouldnt be too much of a problem give it 10minutes with the power off, turn it back on and give it a tap with a screw driver and your away.

you'll also want the kit to plumb it into the lines but you needed that anyway...

take the other money you didnt spend on the flash bang one and instead by a filter/sedimentor unit that will last longer and filter finer than 80micron.. if your only filtering the fuel to 80 micron you might as well take the air filter out of the engine and shovel sand into the oil. I know I know thats a bit harsh but considering some of the stuff I work on has a primary fuel filter that catches 20 micron a secondary that catches 5 and a final that deals with 1........ well you get where Im coming from.

    cheers.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, thats the info I was chasing and I'll go and throw the air filter back in, it seemed to run so much better with out it....
