The main reason is possibly factory fuel mapping? I'd say the chipped ECU would possibly allow you to get closer to the rev limit (Why would you need it though, 4000RPM?????) as engine speed is totally fuel volume dependent.

Yeah, 4500rpm is heaps. I think the only time mine has seen that was when the auto stuck and it didn't change gears after I'd given it a booting.

It normally changes at 4200 or a touch over when booted.

yeah same here. there really isnt a point (in mine at least) to fully floor it. mine changes at around 3300rpm under my "heavy" acceleration and i dont feel any great difference between this and fully floored 4200rpm shifts. it seems to like getting back into its "sweet spot" of 2000-2800rpms for 'usual' acceleration anyway.

Google the power & torque graphs for the TD5, you'll see the curve plummet as the revs climb. There's absolutely no point revving it that high.

Not to mention how high your EGTs would be

Having installed an EGT monitor and driving the way i used too, it sure opened my eyes as too how high the EGT can get too.

I am now learning to drive by the EGT gauge
