How much do you want to spend, for a start? What do you want to use it for?

There are excellent 6 cyl diesels with 5 spd autos from 2002 onwards (L223 model), but expect to pay $50-60K plus.

There was an old "VM" diesel but no-one thinks to much of these engines.

Anyway - some more details and you'll get some more replies.

What sort of economy from the L223 Model?

I've got an '03 BMW engined 6 cyl diesel in mine, and the economy is really excellent for a big beast of a car.

Cruising on the hwy I get around 9L/100, but have seen 8.6-8.7 if lightly loaded. Driving around town is more into the 10L/100.
