    Cobb & Co wire knot

G'day all, from the recovery thread in general I mentioned a cobb & co knot, ( What recovery gear do you carry? )but havent found any net pics so I made my own just for every ones info on how to tie a Cobb & Co wire knot. It is very useful for temporary hose clamps, cable ties, lashings, tieing up loose wires, attaching things and tighten two objects together.

Firstly you cut enough wire to go around the job more than twice.
Then you fold it in half to create a bite in the wire,

Place the wire around the item,

And insert the two cut ends through the bite leaving some play,

Now use a bar or screw driver (philips head) and insert between the center of the join. Don't use a flat head as it will get stuck.

Slowly twist the bar ensuring that it stays in the right place you want. You can use pliers to hold the cut ends if they start to get pulled.

Be very careful not to over tighten, once finished remove bar and cut off excess wire before loop.

Any dramas PM me, I've used this method for a variety of applications, from putting log rails on a fence to staking machine guns.

Any relationship to the famous (American) Aussie coach company Cobb & Co.?

As an aside, who is old enough (like me) to remember the TV series, "Whiplash", about Cobb & Co. starring Peter Graves (later of Mission Impossible)?

I didn't know until recently that Graves was the brother of James Arness (Marshal Matt Dillon in "Gunsmoke").

Ron, it's amazing how similar looking the 2 actors became as they got older, when young you would never have picked them as brothers, did you know James Arness played the monster in the mid-fifties movie "The Thing from another World", my first creepy movie, scared the beejeezus out of me way back then, seems pretty mild now though, Regards Frank.

I shall have to look up pics of them as older men. (Not that I'm into older men. NM is - (a) look at Perry and then (b) remember she lies in bed thinking of me! )

I didn't know about the creature.
