Question Electrical issue with 2002 TD5 Discovery

I am a newbie on the forum so I hope this is the right place to start this search.

Over the last two nights the vehicle horn has come on (continuously) and the only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery.

The battery voltage was 12.3 volts and the car had been doing short runs over the past week.

I have since travelled a little further and the battery volts are up to 12.8 volts.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Regards

Its unlikely to be anything to do with the battery.

Is the D2 alarm sounder the same as the horn? ie when the alarm goes off is it the horn, or a seperate one?

well I would suggest that the horn button is not working / sticking, possibly a bared wire earthing out, or if a relay is involved then that is faulty..............

but if its the alarm that's going off - then thats a bit deeper -

.......and as to what battery voltage has to do with the horn being on continuously - we that one has me stumped

It happened to me a few months ago. I disconnected the battery to stop it but realised later that I only had to pull the relay. Put the relay back in a few hours later and all has been well since.

    Question horn operating by itself

    Thanks for the feed back.

I am not sure if the battery volts are at issue either.

I thought it was the security system activating, as the first night it went off i found a small moth in the car. The weird thing though was the horn was on continuously not the usual intermittant tone.

The key fob disarming had no effect, butstarting the engine stoped the horn.

The second night non of the above worked, disconnecting the battery was my only option due to the noise.

In the AM the horn reactivated when I connected the battery but went off when the ignition key was placed in the ignition lock. But it did beep a few times over the first 10minutes or so of driving.

I am in fact about to go out check the battery volts.

StephenF10 Many thanks I am not alone! That did cross my mind, but I a still wondering if the battery volts might be the root cause?

    Regards

I believe there is only one Horn.

I have posted a few more details surrounding the 2 events.
ps I am not game to leave the battery connected till I find the appropriate fuse.
