Crack an injector line and see if that helps.

Turn the engine over. The cam lobe has to be in the right position to engage with the pump arm.

Open the bleeder bolt at the top of the fuel filter.

Mate, just incase you didn't know, you need to have the ignition switch in the on position when you before you start priming. Thats why it worked when you cranked the motor over.

Or on a 300tdi just crank it till it fires? They dont seem to need hand priming like japanese desos?

And regarding ign, if you have cracked the filter bleed screw at the filter the stop solenoid will have no effect on the fuel flow, but the cam lobe position for the lift pump does.

You can actually do it both ways, I have gone by what is written in the manual and it states to turn on ignition to activate stop soleniod to prime by hand or to crank motor over in short bursts.

He is only bleeding to the filter, the engine didn't run out of fuel, so the injector pump has not been run dry and does not need bleeding, so no solenoid activation is required. The cam lobe holding in the lift pump lever would have stopped the manual lever on the side of the pump moving the diaphram in the pump, so no fuel would be pumped and the system would not bleed.

    Hey guys

Must have had a "BLONDE" moment reading the manual, I stand corrected.

    Cheers
