    EGT 300Tdi

    Ok after fitting my EGT gauge to my 300Tdi Fender Pre turbo I am getting readings of a 1000+ deg c underload and this is un tweaked
    What should i expect pre turbo

    If you bought the Auber Instruments controller triple check the unit's menu settings as they sometimes default to Fahrenheit.

    Before tweaking the highest I could get was around 600. This was pre turbo

    I'd be suspecting a calibration issue if nothing seems amiss with the vehicle's operation.

    Yep went into the settings and changed it , when it went up so high

    Car has run as good as it ever has so i doubt any dramas

    looks like the one i inherited with the county... still in its bag..

    only got a very short probe...

    you put yours in at the blanking plate?

    Yes a very short probe and also mounted in the blanking plate

    1000 *F = 538C

    I try to keep under 700C.

    Note that 6mm thermocouples are slow (relative to 3mm units) to react, so if the temps are climbing rapidly, actual temps will be higher than displayed. So in these cases ease back when mid to high 600's are displayed, or grab a lower gear.

    Oh yeah just remembered, did you set the unit to accept a K type thermocouple?
