    Discoveries?

    Hi Guys,
Well the time has come for me to sell my trusty Unimog and get something a bit more practical for the family. I am thinking of Series II Discoveries, but I know pretty much zero about them apart from the fact they have 4 wheels

What sort of things should I be on the lookout for when i view them?

Are there any I should stay away from.

This will be our first Landrover (patrol before the Mog) so i am in the dark.

Any helpful Suggestions will be appreciated.

    Cheers

EDIT : Sorry Mods, should have posted this in the Disco section. Move it if you feel it should be there

    Hi Ontrack2,

    Firstly, where are you situated?
Secondly, a disco2 , Td5 2003(Upgraded headlamp model) onwards would be my choice. Auto with a chip you will see 440Nm of torque and around 140Kw, and still return 10l/100km if driven sensibly. For simplicities sake, forget ACE (Active cornering enhancement)and Rear air suspension.

Of course there are HEAPS of fors and againsts, depending on what you want from the vehicle, but the above model in my opinion is the best of the D2's to get. Manual ones are also excellent, but harder to find.

Thanks for the Reply. Im in Sydney.

I am after a Discovery to get me to work everynow and then (we normally all go in one car but some days that doesn't work), and for weekend camping and 4wd club trips to say Stockton or the Watagans for example. I cant see us doing any serious touring in it at this stage, but there may be a trip or two to the cape.

The one I mentioned will do the job admirably

Just got to find one now...

Look for a fastidious service history from a reputable dealer/ specialist, pay good money for a good example, aboive ALL, get it inspected by a LR independent specialist repairer, In Sydney I'd check out Bruce Davis performance Landies in Annangrove, 97691179. They will do a good pre purchase checkover for you, and may even have a customer with one for sale?
