    BFG A/T's out of round...

Just wondering, has anyone else had a problem with BFG A/T's being out of round?
I've had this set for 3 years now, initially thought that the tyre place did a bad balance, had them balanced 3 times now, but I still have a shake around 95-105Kmh.
Jacked up the wheels one at a time, and yup, they are not round!

Did you check them while hot? IF they've been sitting and cooled then they may have flat spotted.
    Cheers

Thanks Slunnie, it is really a "shake", not just a "thumping" and only at speed.
On a recent 2 hour trip at 100kmh, it was still doing it at the end.
    Ta for your suggestion though!

I had a wheel shake thet started at 80km/hr and went away after about 85-90- Tyres were Goodyear Wrangler ATR. Problem went away when I changed the tyres.

Funnily enough this is a common problem with all makes of large tyres, some more so than others.

It is especially common in large truck tyres.

There is a company that will shave your tyres from slightly egg shape to round, though they escape me who they are at the moment.

It is very hard to get large heavy construction tyres perfectly round.

Hd exactly that prob with set of second hand goodyear AT wranglers..firstly thought is was a balance issue but with the assist of the the shop that fitted them to my rims worked out it was a mix of the rims and the tyres being out of round...he stuffed arround, worked out which rims were the best and spent ages fitting tyres to them, rotating to get optimal roundness..these went on the front..took alittle less trouble with the back...was a bad vibration from about 90 originally..now only the faintest of imperfection at 110+...lot of stuffing around but a good result.

I haven't had the problem, but as I reported on an earlier thread, my local Jax tyre dealer would not sell me BFGs for my D2 because of the problems they were having trying to keep them in balance. According to him, this is a very common problem with BFG A/Ts of late.
